We would like to extend a big thank you to all our donors and volunteers for the PPE Gown Making Project and the Thank You Basket Project. We have received donations of 6,272 PPE gowns so far. - Sign Language Greetings
- Useful to Know! "YUBIMOJI" (Vowels and Consonants for Sign Language)

■Senior Support Project (Tango Therapy)

Here are some screenshots from the Senior Support Project (Tango Therapy) - Christmas Special, held in December of last year. In this program, we enjoyed exercising to the rhythm of tango, with residents at a nursing home for the elderly. For this event in December, nine facilities and about 40 volunteers came online to participate. We had participants not only from Japan, but also from Korea and Argentina. We enjoyed a lot of content, such as tango performance, tango music and tango exercises. Thank you very much to the Japan Tango Therapy Association for planning and organizing this event!

How did you start volunteering?
"I somehow came to lead the Best Buddies club at middle school for students at the school with Down syndrome."

What volunteering experience stuck with you the most and why?
"Dance Laboratory (Dancers, regardless of limitations, coming together) because all the kids are so sweet and they'er like my second family."

What do you hope to accomplish through volunteering?
"I want other high school (me included) students to be able to view volunteering as something that is not simply one-way giving but a two-way relationship. We receive so much as volunteers, and I hope volunteering can become a joy and not some 'chore.'"

■About Hands On Tokyo
OUR MISSION: Hands On Tokyo provides meaningful bilingual volunteer opportunities to foster volunteerism and develop leaders to serve the needs of our community.

■Our Initiatives
Through our volunteer activities, we address the needs of a diverse range of community partners, including children's homes, special care homes for the elderly, special needs schools. By providing opportunities to participate in volunteer activities in both Japanese and English. We aim to encourage local people to participate in volunteer activities and contribute to the local community by working in the community.

During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are focusing on “what can we do now to support our community,” and how can we support that community as quickly as possible. We are working with various community groups, to deliver masks, handmade PPE gowns and “Thank You Baskets.” Each of these include a handwritten thank you message, and various sweets. These are delivered to our partner hospitals, local hospitals, welfare facilities, etc.
