■東北プロジェクト
３月12～13日、ハンズオン東京のボランティアは東北プロジェクトを開催しました。初日は宮城県山元町の農家で、パプリカの枯れた苗や留め具を取り外したり、ネットをはずしたりするなど、次の収穫シーズンに向けた準備のお手伝いをしました。２日目は宮城県雄勝町のローズガーデンファクトリーでのお手伝い。雑草を抜いて、お花の種を蒔きました。そして、ガーデンのなかに雄勝石を使って "OGATSU" の文字を作りました。また、東北地方での東日本大震災から５年たった機会に、地元の方による防災教育を受け、震災を忘れない、そして震災に備える気持ちをあらたにしました。
■Tohoku Project
On March 12th - 13th, Hands On Tokyo Volunteers participated in a Tohoku Project. On the first day, we helped out the farmers in Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi prefecture, by clearing out dead plants and removing plastic clips in a paprika hot house, to help prepare for the next growing season. On the second day, we worked at the Rose Garden Factory in Ogatsu-cho, Miyagi prefecture. We cleared a garden of weeds and planted seeds. We also wrote "OGATSU" with pieces of Ogatsu Slate next to the garden. In memory of the five-year anniversary of the Tohoku disaster, we participated in a disaster prevention workshop. We still remember Tohoku.

■済生会乳児院 ガーデニング＆お庭のメンテナンスプロジェクト
２月19日（金）に済生会乳児院でガーデニング＆お庭のメンテナンスのプロジェクトを行いました。前回植えたパンジーの種は発芽しなかったので今回はパンジーの苗を植えました。花壇にはチューリップの芽が出てきています。また、さつまいもなどの野菜作りも計画しています。次回も楽しみです！
■Gardening and Ground Maintenance Project for Infants’ Home
On Friday, February 19th, Hands On Tokyo volunteers helped with gardening and ground maintenance at Saiseikai Infants' Home. We planted pansy seeds last time, however, the seeds didn't germinate. Therefore, we planted pansy seedlings this time. In the flower bed, the tulips are about to bloom! We are also planning to plant some vegetables, such as sweet potatoes. We are looking forward to the next session!

■筑波大学付属視覚特別支援学校 英会話
３月12日（土）に、ハンズオン東京のボランティアは筑波大学付属視覚特別支援学校の生徒の皆さんと、代々木公園で英会話のプログラムを行いました。代々木公園で開催されていた「ふるさとの食 にっぽんの食フェスティバル」で、滋味あふれるさまざまな種類の和食料理を味わうほか、二人三脚のゲームなどをして楽しみました。みんなとてもいい時間を過ごしましたよ！
■English Conversation at the Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba
On Saturday, March 12th, Hands On Tokyo volunteers and high school students from the Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba, had an English conversation program. This time we went to Yoyogi Park together. We went to the Furusato no Shoku, Nippon no Shoku Festival (the Japanese Cuisine Festival). At the festival, we were able to experience the full richness of various kinds of Japanese "Washoku" cuisine. We also enjoyed fun activities such as a three-legged race in Yoyogi Park. We had a great time! |

■BNPパリバ「ガーデニング・プロジェクト」
2月27日（日）にBNPパリバのボランティア12名が児童養護施設 筑波愛児園にて、子どもたちと一緒にブルーベリーの植栽を行いました。夏には美味しい実がなるブルーベリーの木を育てることを通して、豊かな心が育まれることを期待します。植栽の後は、子どもたちは英語のゲームをしながらボランティアとの交流を楽しみました。次回は夏に実施する予定です。
■BNP Paribas Gardening Project
On February 27th, BNP Paribas volunteers planted blueberry trees with children at Tsukuba Aijien Children's Home. We hope that taking care of these trees, which will bear fruit in the summer, will help nurture and heal the children's hearts. After the gardening activity, the children enjoyed games in English with the volunteers. The next activity will be held in the summer. |

ハンズオン東京では５月から新しい英会話のプロジェクトの開催を予定しています。このプロジェクトでは、児童養護施設の子どもたちに英語を楽しく学んでもらい、英語に対する興味を継続させることを目的としています。ハンズオン東京では、このプログラムをコーディネートしてくださるリーダーを募集しています。英語が母国語で、子どもたちに英語を教えることに興味のある方は、事務局（info@handsontokyo.org）まで、eメールにてご連絡ください。

Hands On Tokyo will start a new English Conversation Project in May. In this project, we will provide the children living in a children’s home the opportunity to learn English and sustain their interest in learning the language. We are looking for Volunteer Leaders, who will coordinate and lead this project. If you are a native speaker of English and interested in teaching English to children, please contact us (info@handsontokyo.org).
