　Hands On Tokyo Project Report Digest　

■ありすの杜スマイルプロジェクト

５月17日（水）、特別養護老人ホームありすの杜で「ありすの杜スマイルプロジェクト」を開催しました。今回は、私たちはホームにお住まいの皆さんにハンドベルをお聴かせしました。ボランティアの方も楽しそうで、もっと練習をしたいと意気込んでいたので、クリスマスにむけて練習会をしたいと思います！

■Arisu no Mori Smile Project

On Wednesday, May 17th, Hands On Tokyo held an Arisu no Mori Smile Project at a special elderly nursing home, "Arisu no Mori”. This time our volunteers played handbells for the residents. We enjoyed beautiful music together. We loved playing handbells so much that we are planning to practice handbells for our Christmas Party!

■ダンスボランティアプロジェクト

５月13日（土）、ハンズオン東京のボランティアは、「ダンスボランティアプロジェクト」を行いました。今回もDance Laboratoryとふたばの会の皆さんと一緒にダンスを楽しみ、素敵な時間を過ごしました！　参加してくださった皆さん、ありがとうございました！　次回のプロジェクトは7月2日（日）に開催予定です！

■Dance Volunteer Project

On Saturday, May 13th, Hands On Tokyo held the Dance Volunteer Project. We enjoyed dancing with the Dance Laboratory and the Futaba Association. We had a great time again! Thank you all for participating in this project! The next session will be held on Sunday, June 17th. We hope to see you then!

■済生会乳児院飾り付けプロジェクト

５月９日（火）、ハンズオン東京のボランティアは、済生会乳児院で生活する子どもたちのバースデーパーティーのお手伝いをしました。今回のテーマは “ジャングルの動物たち” です。とってもかわいくできましたよ！

■Decoration Project for Saiseikai Infants Home

On Tuesday, May 9th, Hands On Tokyo volunteers helped to celebrate a great May birthday month at the Saiseikai Infants Home. We set up the decoration board with "Jungle Animals". It was so cute!

■ニューバーガー・バーマン株式会社様：バブルサッカー

14名の社員の方にボランティアにご参加いただき、15名の都内の児童養護施設で暮らす子どもたちと一緒にバブルサッカーやバブルボールを転がす団体リレー戦で楽しく交流しました。バブルで体が包まれているので、体当たりしても痛くありません。体をぶつけ合いながらボールを取り合い、初対面でしたが、ボランティアと子どもたちはすぐに打ち解け、非日常的な体験を一緒に楽しみました。ご参加いただいた皆さま、ありがとうございました！

■Neuberger Berman East Asia Limited：Bubble Soccer Project

14 volunteers played bubble soccer and relay races with bubble balls with 15 children living at a children's home. One's body is protected by a bubble suit, so it is not painful even if one bumps others. Volunteers and children met for the first time, but they got along with each other quickly because of the exciting games. They enjoyed an unique experience together. Thank you everyone for participating in this project!

どのようなきっかけでボランティアを始めましたか？
「私が初めてハンズオン東京のボランティアに参加したのは2012年でした。東北の皆さんへのキャンドル作りのプロジェクトでした」

How did you start volunteering?
"I first joined Hands On Tokyo in 2012, when I volunteered at a candle making event for Tohoku."

一番印象に残っているボランティア活動は何ですか？
「若葉寮と筑波大学附属視覚特別支援学校の英会話プログラムです。若葉寮の活動では、とても多くの子どもたちが家族から離れて生活をしなければならないことを初めて知り、衝撃を受けました。また、筑波大学附属視覚特別支援学校の英会話プログラムでの生徒さんたちの才能にも驚いています。私は生徒さんたちと英語で話すことができてとてもうれしいです」

What volunteering experience stuck with you the most and why?
"Two of the volunteer experiences that stuck with me was when I volunteered at Wakaba-ryo and the Special Needs Education School for the Visually Impaired, University of Tsukuba. At Wakaba-ryo, it was the first time I learned that so many children have to live away from their families, and it affected me. I am also amazed by the talented students at the Tsukuba English Program. I am so happy to be able to speak to them in English."

ボランティア活動をしていくことで将来どのようになりたいですか？
「ボランティア活動を通して、若い方たちと一緒に自分自身を高めていければいいとなと思っています」

What do you hope to accomplish through volunteering?
"Through volunteer service I hope to empower young people by challenging them to improve themselves."

◇ユース・ボランティア・リーダーシップ・プログラム
　Youth Volunteer Leadership Program

5月20日（土）、大学生で運営するハンズオン東京・学生ボランティアメンバーのミーティングを開催し、2017年の目標と今後のプロジェクトについて話し合いました。

On Saturday, May 20th, the Hands On Tokyo college volunteers met for their bimonthly meeting to talk about their goals and upcoming projects for 2017.

カレッジボードメンバーは、昨年から活動を開始したばかりですが、すでにハンズオン東京に強い影響を与えています。彼ら自身でコミュニティー・プロジェクトを実施したり、それぞれの学校のクラブ内、または口コミでハンズオン東京の認知度を高めたりするなど、私たちの活動をリードし、貢献してくれています。

The college board may only have been founded last year, but the students have already left their mark on Hands On Tokyo. They lead and contribute to the organization by carrying out community projects and finding ways to raise awareness of Hands On Tokyo at their schools, whether that be at clubs or by word of mouth.

ハンズオン東京では、大学生、高校生のためのボランティア・プログラムや、スタッフ・理事との交流会なども予定しています。私たちの活動に興味のある学生、学校の皆さん、info@handsontokyo.org まで、ぜひご連絡ください。ハンズオン東京は皆さんがコミュニティ全体にどのように貢献し、変化をもたらすのかを楽しみにしています。皆さんが目標を達成するためのツールを提供できればうれしいです！

On Hands On Tokyo's end, we are organizing volunteer opportunities and mixers exclusively for college and high school students, and, in the future, we will offer opportunities for the students to meet our staff and board members. ◇復興支援ベースボールプロジェクト
　Baseball Project for Disaster Relief

ハンズオン東京では、自然災害を経験した東北と熊本、そして港区の３つの地域の野球少年・少女による合同合宿、復興支援ベースボールプロジェクトを開催します。野球教室や交流試合、交流会でのプレゼンテーションなど、被災地の野球少年・少女の思い出づくりを応援するとともに、「震災を忘れない」「若い世代のリーダーシップの育成」を目的とした活動を企画しています。

The Hands On Tokyo Baseball Project for Disaster Relief will unite three middle school baseball teams from Tohoku, Tokyo and Kumamoto. The boys and girls will divide their time equally between baseball and fostering meaningful dialogue about natural disasters with the goal of empowering young people to become strong contributors and leaders in their local communities. It is also an exciting once in a lifetime opportunity to practice baseball with professional baseball players.
