　Meet Our Staff for the LIVES Project!

ハンズオン東京は2017年より、障がい者の「はたらく・たべる・わらう」をテーマにした「LIVESプロジェクト」を立ち上げました。今回は、このLIVES プロジェクトを動かしている、頼もしいスタッフ３名を紹介します。9月16日（日）のイベント、「LIVES TOKYO 2018」は、この３人が中心になって企画・運営をしています。写真左から重光喬之（シゲ）、白井長興（おっきー）、鬼頭良平（おにっち）です。

Hands On Tokyo has launched the “LIVES Project”, with the theme of improving the lives of the disabled through “Working, Eating, Laughing.” We now introduce you to three of our core staff who have been heavily involved in the planning and management of the LIVES TOKYO Project 2018. (From the Left: Shige, Okki and Onichi.) They have shared some of their personal insights about the project and the future.

■重光喬之（シゲ）
「LIVES TOKYO 2018から運営スタッフの仲間入りをした『シゲ』こと重光喬之です。20代半ばで研究途上の脳脊髄液減少症という病気になりました。24時間365日の疼痛と付き合い、「期待し過ぎず、諦めず」をモットーに、諦める・手放す・任せるの練習中です。障がいや難病など制限があるからこそ生み出せる生き方・働き方があると考え、当事者の社会参加の視点からLIVESプロジェクトの企画をしています」

Shige: Joined the LIVES Tokyo team this year.
“In my mid-twenties, I was diagnosed with intracranial hypotension syndrome, about which at that time little was known. Living with the pain of this condition day in and day out, I often felt I couldn't expect too much out of life; but I couldn’t give up. Though having a terminal illness or disability is limiting, I believe this same limitation can bring new ways of living and working. I have assisted in planning the LIVES project from these beliefs and perspectives.“

■白井長興（おっきー）
「昨年のLIVES TOKYO 2017から準備運営スタッフとして携わっている『おっきー』こと白井長興です。私は15歳の頃、プールの飛び込みに失敗して首の骨を折り車椅子ユーザーになりました。様々な人に支えられて様々な経験をつけることができました。このLIVESプロジェクトに関わったのは障がい者の働き方に選択肢を増やす可能性のカケラを感じたからです。まだこのプロジェクトは小さいかもしれませんが、未来を見据えて頑張っていきます。応援よろしくお願いいたします」

Okki: Involved in the management and preparation of LIVES Tokyo since 2017.
“When I was around 15, I had a diving accident and broke my neck. As a result, I became a paraplegic and confined to a wheelchair. Many people have assisted me and I have gained many invaluable experiences. With regards to my reasoning behind my involvement with the LIVES project, it is because I felt that, just maybe, there was a possibility we could increase the number of work options for disabled people. Though this may still be a small project, I am determined to make LIVES even greater in the future. I hope that you will continue to support us going forward.”

■鬼頭良平（おにっち）
「LIVESキッチンカー担当（障がい者 × 調理師）。スペシャルオリンピックス日本・東京のバスケのアスリートリーダー兼コーチ兼アスリート。日頃ハンズオン東京さんにもお世話になっているのでボラで恩返しをしています。キッチンカー『OOPEN！』の夢は、『人生が変わる場』を目指します。互いに“ありがとう”を言える言われる自分になる。この人・この時間に出逢えて良かった。感動と最幸の日をプレゼントしたいです」

Onichi: Leader of the LIVES Food Truck. Special Olymipics athlete, leader and coach.
“I have been grateful for the work Hands On Tokyo has provided to me personally, and I wanted to contribute something back as a volunteer. My dream for the OOPEN! kitchen car is to provide a place that can change the lives of people; a place where people can exchange thanks, and a place where people can feel grateful for having met each other in that moment. I want to make this day a moving and memorable experience for everyone.”

キッチンカーの名前も『OOPEN！』に決まり、9月16日のLIVES TOKYOでのお披露目に向け、メンバーの気持ちにも、さらに熱が入ってきました！　引き続き、 LIVESプロジェクトへご支援を賜りますよう、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします！

OOPEN! was the name decided for the kitchen car to be unveiled on September 16th at the LIVES TOKYO event. The members are incredibly excited and passionate and can’t wait to start!

■AbbVie Japan “Week Of Possibilities”: Science Class

For the fourth year in a row, we were fortunate to be able to support the AbbVie Japan team during their "Week Of Possibilities" to engage employees to participate in exciting volunteer opportunities.

Volunteers visited three different Children's Homes in Tokyo and introduced underprivileged children to the nature of science through fun, participatory science experiments on 'Mystery Liquids' and helped engage them to build an interest in STEM careers. The “Junior Scientists” enjoyed science experiments and observed how various liquids with different density (water, oil, detergent, alcohol) make beautiful layers and discussed the scientific relativity while volunteers assisted and helped them. Following the experiments, the volunteers explained to children about their interests and what brought them to this field and inspired the children to dream bigger.

■Sign Language Cafe

７月29日（日）に「Sign Language Cafe」を開催しました。「Sign Language Cafe」は、聴覚障がいのある方たちとのコミュニケーションをもっとスムーズにしたい、という思いからスタートした、楽しく手話を学ぶワークショップです。今回は、ハンズオン東京 LIVES プロジェクトの、つんく♂さんがプロデュースしたテーマ曲、「Happy now」を手話で歌う練習をしました。難しかったですが、皆で頑張りました！　

■Sign Language Cafe

Hands On Tokyo organized a Sign Language Cafe on Sunday, July 29th. The Sign Language Cafe is a fun workshop for learning Sign Language. This time we practiced singing the Hands On Tokyo LIVES Project theme song, "Happy Now,” produced by Tsunku♂ in sign language. It was difficult, but we did it! The next session will be held on Saturday, September 1st.

■オープン・オフィス・デー

８月１日（水）にハンズオン東京の新しいオフィスで、オープン・オフィス・デーを開催しました。当日はスタッフの紹介、ハンズオン東京の定例プログラムやイベント、ユースプログラムについてお話しさせていただきました。ハンズオン東京のプロジェクトに興味があり、もっと深く関わってみたいとお考えの方、次回はぜひ、ご参加お待ちしております！

■Open Office Day

On Wednesday, August 1st, Hands On Tokyo had an Open Office Day at our new office. We introduced our staff, our new ongoing projects, as well as our upcoming events and our Youth Program. If you would like to become involved in our many projects, please join our Open Office Day next time. We look forward to seeing you soon!
